A 16-year-old is under arrest in Florida after allegedly carjacking a C8-generation Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Convertible. The incident occurred on February 5 shortly before 1:30 am at NW 5th Avenue and NW 29th Street.

Two occupants were sitting in the 670-horsepower Corvette Z06 when a person wearing a black ski mask approached them with a gun and demanded the car. The victims were able to track the Corvette via GPS, and despite having a speed and horsepower advantage, the suspect apparently did not manage to evade the police for very long.

Surveillance video from a nearby Shell gas station shows the violent end of the pursuit, where the Corvette loses control and crashes into both a parked car and a fence at the gas station. The incident highlights the risks associated with high-performance vehicles and the importance of driver vigilance.

In this case, the suspect's decision to pursue the Corvette led to a series of reckless maneuvers that ultimately resulted in the crash. Thankfully, no injuries were reported despite the speed and multiple impacts involved.

The police were able to quickly detain the suspect after the crash, recovering a handgun and a black ski mask from the scene. Kelvin Jamari Thomas, 16, has been charged with armed carjacking and a drug charge.

His court appearances will continue in the coming days as he faces the consequences of his actions.
