Chevrolet is now delivering the 2027 Bolt to dealerships as we speak, bringing back the much-beloved electric hatchback which had been retired in 2023. The new model features some nice updates but retains a very familiar form. However, it may not last for too long – GM says this refresh is only available for a limited time, and there's an indication that 'limited time' could be about 18 months.

The Bolt was originally released in the 2017 model year as GM's first real, modern effort at an EV. It was designed to be all-electric rather than a compliance car like the old Chevy Spark EV. The new 2027 Bolt has a lot of the same stuff we loved from the old Bolt, and it looks about the same from the outside, but with some changes inside and underpinnings.

The interior saw a few more changes than the exterior, most notably with the controversial removal of CarPlay. The underpinnings of the car changed too – a whole new battery, to get away from the problems with the previous LG-supplied pack. The new battery uses LFP cells from CATL, which offers some interesting advantages, such as durability and the ability to charge to 100% daily.

6kW when connected to GM's V2H home products, allowing it to power your home. The best part is that it starts at $28,595, making it the cheapest EV available in America for now. The Nissan Leaf is close, but the Bolt is currently the best deal.

The new model is being delivered to dealers now, and it's available for purchase. Currently, both LT ($29,990) and RS ($32,995) trims are being delivered, with an additional lower-end trim available eventually starting at $28,995. GM has updated its range rating to 262 miles, which is more than the old EUV and Bolt EV.

However, there's still a shadow of 'limited availability' remaining, and production will reportedly end soon, according to Bloomberg, giving you approximately 18 months to get the new Bolt.

EazyInWay Expert Take

The 2027 Chevy Bolt offers an attractive combination of affordability, range, and features that make it an excellent choice for EV buyers. However, its limited availability and potential replacement by another affordable EV in the future may impact its long-term viability.
